NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.  Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE) announced today that Ryder System Inc., a leader in commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation, and supply chain solutions, has awarded Clean Energy a four-year fueling contract for a fleet of liquified natural gas (LNG) heavy-duty trucks that move goods for Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc., Toyota’s largest manufacturing facility in North America located in Georgetown, Kentucky. Clean Energy will open a station in Georgetown to fuel the trucks that are expected to consume approximately 380,000 gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs) each year.

Ryder has made sustainability a priority and has been a leader in expanding its offering of advanced vehicle technologies. Toyota has also rapidly expanded into alternative fuels and has encouraged its third-party carriers to move its goods in a more sustainable way. LNG produces less emissions than diesel.

“At Ryder, we have the opportunity and ability to continually reduce the environmental impacts of our operations and those of the customers we serve,” said Chris Nordh Sr. Director – Advanced Vehicle Technologies & Energy Products at Ryder. “LNG as a transportation fuel helps us reduce our vehicle emissions, and we’re happy to partner with Clean Energy to continue our dedication to sustainability solutions.”

“We are seeing a trend in shippers selecting carriers that demonstrate a commitment to the environment,” said Chad Lindholm, Vice President at Clean Energy. “Natural gas is a perfect fit for carriers because not only is it cleaner, it’s abundant, is available today, performs every bit as well as diesel, and makes sense economically.”

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. is the leading provider of natural gas fuel for transportation in North America. We build and operate CNG and LNG vehicle fueling stations; manufacture CNG and LNG equipment and technologies; and deliver more CNG and LNG vehicle fuel than any other company in the U.S. Clean Energy is also the country’s largest supplier of RNG and believes its Redeem™ RNG fuel is the cleanest transportation fuel commercially available, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70%.
