Long Beach Public Transportation Company (LBT) Signs New Multi-Year Operation and Maintenance Agreement to Fuel with Clean Energy

  • LBT has deployed 64 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses and has the capacity to serve up to 110 buses at its CNG station.
  • If LBT were to reach capacity of 110 CNG buses, this fleet could consume 1.5 million gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs) of CNG per year.
  • LBT’s CNG fleet fuels at its private CNG fueling facility which Clean Energy operates and maintains.

“Long Beach Transit is committed to providing public transit services that improve the quality of life for our customers and community. Our low-emission CNG fleet is an integral part of this commitment. Partnering with Clean Energy Fuels will help us maintain the reliability of our CNG station equipment – something that is vital for day-to-day operations.”

If LBT were to reach capacity of 110 CNG vehicles, this fleet could consume 1.5 million DGEs of CNG per year which could reduce greenhouse gases by 3,160 metric tons per year, the equivalent of taking 653 cars off the road per year.
